Bernard von NotHaus and others at NORFED have filed suit against the US Mint for its comment that use of the Liberty Dollar is a federal crime.

"...prosecutors with the Department of Justice have determined that the use of these gold and silver NORFED 'Liberty Dollar' medallions as circulating money is a Federal crime. " -US Mint website.

According to NORFED, "It is not a 'federal crime' for two consenting adults to voluntarily use a piece of silver in trade."

Ron Paul on the upcoming Iraq War Funding Bill

On Tuesday, March 20th Ron Paul spoke on the House Floor in opposition to the $124 billion dollar bill for funding the Iraq war.

"The $124 billion supplemental appropriation is a good bill to oppose." he said Tuesday. "I am pleased that many of my colleagues will join me in voting against this measure."

Dr. Paul went on to state that congress is "responsible for making policy, by debating and declaring war, raising and equipping armies, funding military operations, and ending conflicts that do not serve our national interests."

Wow, it happened. I can't say I'm surprised but damn if I don't feel this. I've learned so much from this man in his writings, which I'm still to this day working on reading every single one.

A hero has fallen, and I don't know how to feel. Perhaps its Bob's last words posted to his blog the day before he died that make it so difficult to be sad.

"Various medical authorities swarm in and out of here predicting I have between two days and two months to live. I think they are guessing. I remain cheerful and unimpressed. I look forward without dogmatic optimism but without dread. I love you all and I deeply implore you to keep the lasagna flying."

"Please pardon my levity, I don't see how to take death seriously. It seems absurd."

All I know is that I will do everything in my power to attend his memorial. It almost seems like my MO lately to attend these things.

Then, read it. If you like it, read anything hes ever written, and you'll like that too.

I can thank this man for moving the circuits in my brain every time I read one of his books, thus reshaping my world view and eventually, reaffirming it. When I first picked up illuminatus I was a young punk rocker socialist, and now I'm one of those "radical individualist libertarians" who reads books on Cabala, Philosophy, Psychology, Politics, Taoism, Physics, Religion, and Literature from the likes of Pound, Yeats, Joyce, and many others he's memed out in his books, blogs, and even film!

So, my plan, lets make history remember this man. Anyone in?

The Party Isn't Over

In light of this recent election, many Libertarians are abandoning the Libertarian party due to it's once again outwright failure to win an election. They say that this is an example of the parties weakness, and because of it, they are supporting organizations like the Republican Liberty Caucus and the Free State Project.

I don't see the need to abandon the LP yet. While we may have lost every major race, something good came out of it. This year, the media actually focused a small amount of attention to the LP. As I watched CSPAN, the numbers were showing Republicans trailing behind Democrats. But it was also showing something else. Something I've never seen before. A third Percentage below The two other major parties. Yes, in many of these races, the third name, which in past years has been either "I" or "Other", said "Lib."

Of course we can't start giving out medals of honor just yet. But the Libertarian Party did accomplish getting us noticed, which, while a small step, is a step forward.

I'm still a member of the Free State Project, and have signed the first 1,000 pledge. I'm now on a quest to save as much money as possible so that I can move to New Hampshire and even live for months on end before I find a job off these savings. And once in New Hampshire, I will still support the LP. I will try to convince what should be a large group of libery minded people their to support the LP as well, and maybe in New Hampshire we can elect the first Third Party Senator or Rep.

This year Libertarians all over the country put in countless hours campaining for respective candidates who respected Liberty and the idea of limited government. We made phone calls, put up signs, sent out emails, and even blogged. Somehow in the midst of all this, we started to really believe in what we were doing. Maybe we thought, this would be the year to see the breaking of this two party system stalemate that has been going on for years now.

I too believed that maybe our hard work would land us with one seat in the House. So come election day I proudly marched off to my polling place to cast my ballot for every Libertarian I could vote for. I didn't expect my vote to mean much more than a statement. My state has always been an Uber-Liberal one.

The results came in throughout the night, and I watched as candidates who morgaged their houses to get up enough money to be on national debates recieved meager percentages. In house races we got 6% at the highest, and Smither, a wonderfull candidate in a place where he and a Democrat where the only people on the ballot, a Republican write in candidate with a name that's difficult to spell pulled in better results.

Slowly the depression of hard work to no avail has been overcoming me. I have come to the decision, after the urgings of Free Talk Live to join the Free State Project.

And no I'm not moving anytime soon. I'm merely stating my intent to move their within the next three years. I think I just need to see Liberty in my lifetime. And my options seem to be New Hampshire or moving to Ron Paul's district.

'cause essentially my state just lost me. For some reason, which makes NO FUCKING SENSE TO ME, California voted down legislation that would restrict Eminent Domain. Yes, we decided we wanted the government to steal our land and pay us practically nothing for it.
